Recovery of thermoluminescence sensitivity in CaF2:Mn (TLD-400) dosimeter under heating process
Authors
Abstract:
In order to recovery the thermoluminescence (TL) sensitivity of CaF2:Mn (TLD-400) thermoluminescent dosimeter it was exposed to high gamma radiation dose of 10kGy, then by applying standard annealing followed by irradiation to 1Gy gamma dose, the TL signal was recorded . The TL response reduced due to the damage effect of high dose irradiation in comparison with control dosimeter with received dose of 1Gy. By applying different thermal treatment and variation of annealing time, the appropriate annealing time for recovery of sensitivity was determined.

Achievement of Quality Control Parameters for NIS Personal Thermoluminescence Dosimeter (TLD) System
This work intend to identify and follow up quality control parameters to improve thermoluminescence dosemeter (TLD) system used for personal dosimetry in ionizing radiation metrology laboratory (IRML). Characterization of personal dosimetry system has presented in terms of the stability of reader calibration factors, linearity of response for Cs as reference radiation source, energy and angular...
full textThermoluminescence Dosimetry (TLD) and its Application in Medical Physics
Radiation dosimetry is fundamental in Medical Physics, involving patients and phantom dosimetry. In both cases thennoluminescence dosimetry (TLD) is the most appropriate technique for measuring the absorbed dose. In this paper thennoluminescence phenomenon as well as the use of TLD in radiodiagnosis and radiotherapy for in vivo or in phantom measurements is discussed. Some results of measuremen...
full textDental tissue as a TLD dosimeter
Background: Thermoluminescence dosimetry is one of the dosimetry procedures used widely as routine and personal dosimeters. In order to extend this kind of dosimeters, dental tissue has been examined and was found promising as a TLD dosimeter. Materials and Methods : In this study, 70 health teeth were collected. The only criterion, which was considered for selection of the teeth, was the healt...
full textEvaluation of Breast Cancer Radiation Therapy Techniques in Outfield Organs of Rando Phantom with Thermoluminescence Dosimeter
Background: Given the importance of scattered and low doses in secondary cancer caused by radiation treatment, the point dose of critical organs, which were not subjected to radiation treatment in breast cancer radiotherapy, was measured. Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the peripheral dose in two techniques of breast cancer radiotherapy with two energies. Methods: Eight diff...
full textEvaluation of Maximum Patient Skin Dose Arising from Interventional Cardiology Using Thermoluminescence Dosimeter in Mashhad, Iran
Introduction The increasing practice of interventional fluoroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease has risen attention to improve radiation protection of patients and cardiologists in these relatively high dose techniques. Therefore, nowadays there is an emphasis on the measurement of radiation dose received by patients and cardiologists arising from the relevant procedures...
full textOrgan Dose Measurement in Computed Tomography Using Thermoluminescence Dosimeter in Locally Developed Phantoms
Introduction: Organ dose estimation using thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) is known to be a standard, although many other methods, such as simulation software, optically stimulated luminescent dosimeters, and photodiodes are still in use. This study aimed at directly measuring mean organ doses to the selected organs in the head/neck, chest, and abdominal regions from four computed tomography ...
